While most clients prefer their
names and faces remain anonymous, we have some that have asked that
we share their stories and comments, so that others may know of the
positive impact they have experienced from being loved and served by
the staff and volunteers of the Downtown Pregnancy Center.

A Note We
Received from Courtney:
|
|
“I want to
thank you for all that y’all have done for
me and my kids. You have done so much I
could never do enough to repay it. Y’all not
only helped me with things for my kids, but
with the emotional support I needed to get
through the deepest valley of my life. And,
you’re the sole reason we aren’t on the
street right now. And if there is anything I
can do to help out just let me know. In
Christ Alone, Courtney” |

Courtney’s story:
No Rhyme, No Reason….but HOPE
So far this year we have seen a storm of activity as God
has brought so many women through our doors with
incredible needs. Having seen a huge increase in total
client visits this year means there are many lives that
have been touched. But much more important than the
numbers, are the faces and the hearts that those numbers
represent.
One such person is our client Courtney, who is a
precious 25 year old child of God. She ‘has been lifted
up out of the miry clay, and been set upon a rock’
(Psalm 40:2) by the Lord through the services of the DPC.
A victim of both hurricanes Katrina & Rita, cancer and
domestic violence, she has experienced the reality of
the verse: “Man born of woman is of few days, and full
of trouble,” Job 14:1. Courtney knows that by the grace
of God she is in a safe, loving, ‘dry’ place. After
leaving New Orleans, Courtney found herself in Dallas
without family and shelter. Through exhaustive research,
and an unrelenting passion to provide for her two and a
half year old daughter, Kallisti, and her eight month
old unborn son, Courtland, she was able to find help.
Courtney came through the doors of the Downtown
Pregnancy Center in February of this year. She has
faithfully participated in our ‘Earn while you Learn’
educational program, our popular Tuesday morning Bible
Study led by Joan Brown, and our nurse directed prenatal
classes. Courtney has been able to use her earned ‘Mommy
Bucks’ in exchange for her maternity needs, her daughter
Kallisti’s needs, and the future needs of soon to be
born son Courtland. Just this week she received a
special donation of some needed baby items from one of
our faithful supporters who noticed Courtney’s presence
at church. Courtney states, “I have received tremendous
emotional support from the Downtown Pregnancy Center,
and I have been so excited to purchase items for my
children in the Wee Care Shoppe.”
What Courtney doesn’t know is how she has blessed the
Downtown Pregnancy Center with her courage to face
life’s misfortunes, and her perseverance in seeking an
ever growing relationship with Christ! Our desire here
at the Downtown Pregnancy Center is to be a loving
instrument for the Kingdom of God and serve more and
more young women like Courtney. We thank the Lord for
sending us Courtney!

Tiffany's Story:
|
“Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”
The lines from this old country song express a sentiment
that is understood by many of us. And, while this
expression represents the search of many of our clients,
for one in particular, this search seemed almost never
ending.
Tiffany Roberts came to the pregnancy center in January
of 2008 for a pregnancy test. Scared, confused and
concerned about her health, Tiffany was worried about
being pregnant.
Like many of us, Tiffany grew up in a small Texas town.
As an infant she experienced a kidney abnormality, but,
by the grace of God, the physicians were able to correct
the malfunction with a mechanical kidney. This battle
for life at an early age was only a sign of later
struggles to come for Tiffany. At age 18 Tiffany
experienced the devastating effects of her parents’
divorce. The pain of the break up of her family left
Tiffany with a fierce search for security, significance,
and finally, unconditional love.
As a teenager Tiffany was drawn into easily acceptable
friendships that were mostly drug and sex related. These
so-called friendships always found Tiffany as the giver
of herself and as a receiver of the world’s answers for
pain – addictions and a broken heart. Tiffany shared
with us that she always had family members who knew the
Lord and encouraged her to learn more about Him. After
years of Satan’s strong hold of addiction and after
serving 40 days and nights of jail time, Tiffany
accepted Christ gift of salvation. However, she never
really grew in that relationship and she lived without
the Lord being on the throne of her life.
After coming to the DPC, Tiffany was encouraged to carry
her pregnancy and to see it as a gift from God. She also
began to understand how much the Lord treasured her as
well. Tiffany said “she never knew so much love and
forgiveness” as she knows now. Tiffany says, “I love the
Lord and He loves me”; and, as He is a giver of all good
gifts, “He gave me my precious baby boy.” “As I express
my love for the Lord and my child, I want to be the
right kind of mother and a good Christian example for
him to follow.” This is the constant desire of Tiffany’s
heart. We have watched her grow in the Lord and she
declares that she is “not ashamed of the Gospel” and
loves the Lord with all her heart. Tiffany wants her
story of forgiveness and unconditional love from Jesus
Christ to be told and has asked us to share her real
name as testimony of what God has done for her.
Tiffany has chosen a path to help her to grow in the
Lord and is now an active member of First Baptist
Dallas, Celebrate Recovery, and a participant in our
Earn While You Learn program. When I last spoke with
Tiffany, she tearfully expressed the joy and acceptance
she feels from the loving hearts of the volunteers and
staff of our pregnancy center. Tiffany knows she will
always be the child of a loving God, and not only that,
but she has a purpose in His kingdom. Today we find
Tiffany “Looking for Love in All the Right Places” and
we praise God for another transformed life!
